She laughed easily and gladly at his paranoid remark, then smiled more earnestly as he returned her sentiment. At his forbidden query, the queen quirked an eyebrow, then grinned as he added to his thought. "No," she sighed with the sense of someone who'd gotten the worst put behind her. "Most certainly not forbidden," still, she did both ears and stepped so their toes were only a foot or so apart.
Her fingers gently rubbed his ears and they threaded now and then through his thick hair; they'd become a comfort object to the queen for quite a while. Her eyes stared into Nate's for a very long time before she felt the need to speak again. "He apologized, and we agreed to communicate better - and more often," she said softly, speaking in low tones so that her feelings didn't rise again.
"You hit him?" Eva's eyes widened suddenly at that recollection. "He said he likes you more now."
