He'd gotten so caught up in the sight of the centaur baby that he hadn't thought of the implications of her creation. Either way things weren't black and white. There was no easy answer to the moral questions, but there was no doubt in Orrin's mind that this outcome was a good one. Centaur females were rare, especially one created in this way.
Orrin took the baby in his arms and cradled her sleeping form to his chest. He looked over to the doctor as she spoke of her abilities before he nodded his head in understanding. "There was a life taken, but the one given is so precious a thing," he glanced down at the child for a few moments before continuing, "I am willing to overlook the life that was lost this night."
After a few precious moments of holding the child, he turned and offered her to Rhiannon to hold. "My lady," he handed the baby to the young woman.
He turned his gaze back to the queen. "If the mother does not accept her," Orrin said, "I know a place where she can grow and be loved and well cared for."
