Attractancy
Even though the King of Helheim carried it well, the transition into godhood had been a rough one. Perhaps it wasn't merely the metaphysical transformation but also the fundamental change caused but the adoption of Helheim. Nathaniel had been separated from his new home and he wondered how much that was affecting his constitution.
The meeting convened over Jo's indiscretion broke up and Nathaniel lingered outside the infirmary. Thor passed without remark, after being uncharacteristically quiet, and moved with the inertia of a king on a mission. Perhaps too many tomorrow problems had stacked up. Either way, Nathaniel had learned to give the Odinson a wide birth during these times. When Eva appeared in the hallway, Nathaniel glanced toward the queen and without words begged the woman's attention. Regardless of his newly bestowed powers and kinghood, the largest drain on the man's psyche had been his separation from the woman he loved. Demons, rapidly aging children, exorcisms, and new centaur breeds had all conspired to keep them apart. No more. Not again.
After locking eyes with her, Nathaniel quickly turned and marched off down the hall. His robes billowed a bit when he turned the first corner and disappeared into one of the palace's alcoves and closets. The door opened without his touch and he moved into the room, then telekinetically slammed the door behind him. They were both needed elsewhere. Neither of them had the time. But if she followed him, she wouldn't use the door. Nate took a deep, solitary breath in the darkness and allowed his body to tremble with anticipation.
