"No," Forge began while his weight shifted between his legs into a more relaxed position. "It's fine," the Cheyenne told the out-of-place Italian woman. Understandably thunderstruck, Jon took a moment in the relative quiet of the evening and really gave thought to what Giosetta had said. She'd taken remains of a child from another person's body and attempted to reanimate said child with the life of a horse. And apparently created a centaur. Huh. That was a sitter if he ever did hear one, but unfortunately Forge didn't notice a nearby chair. "You know, I helped raise hundreds of mutant children over my years. Thought I'd heard everything," his head bobbed up and down as he appeared to agree with his past self. "But that's a new one," he admitted with an equal ratio of amazement and disbelief. "Congratulations?" he offered with a slightly confused expression.
His paternal instincts fought for time and frankly to replace the void Forge's bewilderment had created. He considered instructing Jo to think about the consequences of her actions and clean up that dead horse before anybody else showed up. However, he knew that wasn't the right card to play - no Troys in the house. And Jo wasn't one of his student/child figures. She was a grown-ass woman who made her own grown-ass decisions, including this one. And he already understood the doctor's intentions and that she probably already knew the danger of meddling with mystic forces. That baby wasn't killed by cancer or an accident. It was murdered by a demon, inhabiting a sorceress, resurrected by a mutant... Forge didn't have a flowchart for that because it hadn't been invented yet.
Finally, after a moment or two, Jon walked further into the stable. Without permission, the Native wrapped his arms around Jo's shoulders and offered the woman a hug. Because he didn't have words or promises, but he had empathy and affection, things he felt as though the introvert needed. "Come on," he began arms still tight around Kore's body. "It stinks in here. I'll buy you a cup of coffee," he told the caffeine junkie, knowing the machine near his chambers was only a few minutes away.
