She was in private... with Nate and Thor... so it was increasingly difficult for her to harness her inner-diplomat. But out of respect for Nate's situation, she tried her best not to be indignant. The ex-Mrs. Zale was furious at the situation and Eva, above most others, could literally feel her pain. But at the moment, she had her own pain to contend with, as well as that of her kingdom. They still had a murdering demon on the loose and three deaths on their hands.
"Before you say it - I know. I know I can't undo it." Easily. "And I don't think they're going to want me to." Their children, that was. "I shouldn't have given her false hope," Eva admitted to Nate and Thor, who stood in her and Thor's chambers. She took a long, cool drink of water she'd poured from the pitcher at her bedside and let her mind catch up to her magic. Nope. Still no remorse. "I don't want to seem like a coward by not making the statement myself, but I don't regret what I did and I feel like that will show. I..." don't want to apologize. Zap's eyes focused on Thor, solely, then: "You won't lose their faith because of something I did." It was a promise. "You can pull some Arthurian wife banishment if it comes to that - anything, but I truly don't feel remorse." An hour sooner and she could've saved that baby. She should've done it weeks ago. Now Nathaniel: "I'm sorry about Julia, though." The fallout had caused Nate's family situation stress, and that was something she'd seek forgiveness over.
Then, she sat. Right there on the floor. The backlash was happening. Three-quarters of the prayers directed at her were for support, and the last quarter was curses of woe and loss. Her mind went straight to work, pulling energy from her body and magic and spirit to reach out and do her best to calm and contain.
