Re: Why worry?
"I love you too," Nate responded in kind against Eva's caramel-colored-skin and while he meant the words, the phrase felt too pedestrian for the affection Nathaniel held for Eva. But he supposed sometimes the simplest box contained the best gifts? Except the hell with that. When he was king of the underworld his subjects would clearly need to sacrifice something or perform a ritual in honor of their queen. He'd figure it out.
Nate appreciated her RuPaul quote, but silently and respectfully disagreed. She mentioned Thor's word and the pair shared dark smiles, though Nathaniel believed the Allfather's words more than Mama Ru's. "Don't work too hard," Caltrops told her. "I do enjoy being wicked, through and through," he'd countered her Eva Peron with an Elphaba and a smirk. Which was delightfully covered by Eva's long and lovely final kiss.
Work, work, work, Nate thought pleasantly and idly in his head when Eva moved away from him and toward the nursery. "My pleasure," the God of Darkness said without a hint of sarcasm. Nathaniel stood first and offered his hands for Eva to follow. Once she was up, Nate offered his arm so that they could exit the bedroom linked at the elbows. When they reached the darkened nursery, Nate removed his arm from Eva's and held back when she approached the crib. Nate's attention was focused on Thor, whose body was suddenly held gently aloft with a pillow of shadows beneath him. The Allfather floated from the chair and toward his bed, not far in the other room. Confident Thor would remain quite asleep and find himself safely deposited in his bed, Nathaniel joined Eva at crib side. "She might be your greatest work," the man who just cast himself the villain confessed in a whisper.
