Why worry?
He'd become the night... Or Nathaniel had joked with Brayden as their sleep patterns had recently aligned more closely. Being the God of Darkness didn't necessarily mean one slept like a teenage boy, but since the bestowal Nate had found the daylight mostly repulsive. This arrangement, while it limited his use as an effective Hand to the Queen was tolerable because Eva hadn't been doing much capital 'Q' queening the past week. Lazy. Or at least he'd playfully accused her of laziness throughout the week. Of course, her main concern had been upon Astrid and her own recovery - something Nate was absolutely not above merging work into.
Like several of the other nights since her arrival, Nate appeared in Astrid's nursery to pay his daily respects to the napping princess. Normally, he'd find Eva in the overstuffed chair opposite the crib. Tonight, however, it was an overstuffed Thor - quite asleep and looking quite contented inside his daughter's mostly pink room. After a brief moment to watch the lovely Astrid (and lovely Thor), Nathaniel vanished again and reappeared in Eva's bedroom proper.
"One of them is snoring," he began, having located Eva after his exhaustive two room search. "Care to guess?" he asked with a smile that was more about the vision of beauty she was and less about his question. "Or are you just avoiding this decision?" he lightly charged and walked closer to Eva, whose lovely face was now only illuminated by torchlight thanks to the God of Darkness. Nate's hand lovingly petted the side of Zap's head and hair, "I'm not leaving until I know you're properly supported," he told her with a bittersweet note in his tone. "You need a new advisor..." he stopped short, before he said 'to take my place' because nobody would be capable of that. He wouldn't have allowed it. But this was the topic which had dominated most of their work conversations since the bestowal, entirely Nathaniel's doing.
