Re: “I wear the chain I forged in life,” replied the Ghost.
"Don't say it out loud," Thor jokingly chastised her. "You'll wake it up," he added just before she pointed the gold bugger out. "Ah, sort of plain-looking, isn't it?" he said of the mask in need of a good polish.
Sif took his arm and caused the Allfather's heart to bound. Why? He'd just come down here to find an incredibly powerful and dangerous artifact, which in the wrong hands could cause untold destruction. What they'd entered into felt much worse. She freely admitted her true emotions and reasonably asked for Thor's input. His eyes broadcasted the mixed feelings for which this moment held within his heart. "Perhaps unsurprisingly, I love you as well, Sif," his lion's paw of a hand landed on Sif's and he gripped her fingers. "When I held you in my arms on the Bifrost, I can't describe my fear and joy in that moment," he choked back the tears and definite sorrowful moan his body had intended him to produce. "You are right, Eva came to me and we discussed her taking Nathaniel as a lover. And I, knowing how strong the foundation of our union is, was agreeable," he explained what the woman had already figured out. "And I admit, after our first reunion at your bedside I imagined having a similar conversation with Eva about you," he shared a bit sheepish because it sounded a bit strange spoken.
Thor grunted his frustration with the current situation and re-positioned to face Sif more squarely. "I have not had that conversation yet, because my head and heart have been conflicted. I need you to understand that I love Eva and have pledged myself to her for the rest of my life, and beyond. She will be my only wife and only mother of my children and I will be her honored partner until the halls of Valhalla crumble into ash," as so he'd vowed to Eva. "I tell you this because I cannot fault you for wanting to seek out your own happiness, Sif. Whatever romance we may have a chance for will not be that," he told his oldest friend.
