Re: In a most extraordinary voice between laughing and crying...
Baldr’s face reflected his surprise at Eva’s request and being put on the spot, though the prince recovered with a rather even expression. He stood from the throne and visually examined the trio and attempted to not be distracted by the baby. He approached the mother, a small smile now present, and Baldr’s gloved hand politely exposed a bit of the babe’s sweet face. “She is adorable,” he shared and got a bit distracted. Focus Baldr, and not on squeezable cheeks.
The God of Joy stepped back and turned toward Eva, then ascended the stairs once more. “This won’t do,” he said toward Zap, but not too her. The mother clearly loved the child, but the situation surrounding her clouded the matter. All three of them were too nervous to get a read on. “You’re lucky I’ve misplaced my blade,” Baldr told the trio, which sharpened their immediate emotions. And produced horrified expressions to boot.
Baldr ignored a protesting grunt from Minor, who was held up somewhere near with Baldr’s mystic sword.
Baldr pointed to the husband, “Why?” he asked, plainly.
The woman’s husband appeared stunned, “Your majesty, I don’t understand?” he said, eyes drifting toward Eva.
Baldr spoked and refocused the man’s attention, “Why does it matter? She is your wife and you clearly know she has laid with this other man,” Baldr questioned softly. “What will our answer change regarding the baby?”
The husband hesitated and with a particularly sorrowful expression replied to Baldr, “I will know the truth.”
“Fair enough,” Baldr said and stepped close to Eva in order to whisper. “The husband is reserving his emotions until he knows, he’s clouded with anger. But the second man was much more concerned at my sword comment,” he explained to the queen.
