Re: In a most extraordinary voice between laughing and crying...
"I know," she said, of his preferred personal time activities. They'd spoken long and in-depth of their desired hobbies and free time... which rarely seemed to be in their grasp. Eva had chosen that life, but Baldr had been born into it, and for that, she harbored pity toward him. Moreso for the prolonged time he'd spent in Helheim on his parents' mistakes...
"Yes," she agreed about the importance of their current chore, but her grin gave away her notice of the mop-topped prince's projected change in attitude. Then, a lovely compliment came, and her grin softened but remained. "Thank you, love," she replied quietly and then reclaimed Baldr's hand before she looked over the parchment list of problems claimed to see who was next. "Three more," she said with relief, "you almost made it without shut-eye," Zap teased before she motioned for the guard to let the next person in. "Paternity dispute..." she shared at last in a whisper, as three people came forth from the entrance to the massive throne room.
"Tell me who cares more for the mother, and who cares more for the baby..." she half-challenged the God of Joy as she offered a smile to the mother, bundle of an infant in her arms viewable as she came into earshot. There was the science of Midgard that could determine the fatherhood, easily at the ready, but that wasn't necessarily always the best option, especially when you had Baldr at hand.
Bowing finished: "Your majesty," the husband began, "we implore you to determine the true father of my wife's child." It was the queen. The Allfather would've obviously been preferrable, the man thought.
