Re: Far-off thunder...
Unaccustomed to late night visitors, Baldr had a moment of awkward realization when he heard the knock on his door. The awkwardness continued when he saw whose face was beyond the door. The brothers had yet to reconnect since the family-shifting revelations discovered by Eva. On paper, Baldr’s sentiments toward Loki should have changed since the truth was uncovered. However, he’d spent countless years with the belief that Loki’s treachery had been his downfall. Besides that, since his return, Baldr had learned of Loki’s actual betrayals. In other words, old habits were hard to break.
“Loki,” Baldr greeted him quietly. “My shoulders are unburdened with guilt, brother,” he politely corrected Loki. “But I agree, I am glad our mother made use of your skills,” he explained. “I only wish she could have used her own skills better against Odin,” because the former Allfather was apparently the worst.
A moment passed, and Baldr realized rather late that the polite course would be to invite Loki in, but he hesitated. Finally, Baldr’s door swung open to his brother. “Would you like to come in?” he offered. “I’ve been partaking in some of Eva’s Midguardian entertainment... her stories, as she puts it.”
