Re: Health is the greatest gift. The queen sliced through the barrier Nate had put in place with an upward wave of her hand and pushed the doors open with magical force. To the sides were the doctor, the teleporter and the mutant tracker, her son's psyche manifested in Illyana's arms. Her focus, though, was the bed she was striding towards where Brayden Zale laid unconscious and his father bent over him with teary eyes and confusion on his long face. Behind her came the hurried footfalls of Mateo, but she held her hand out behind her to make sure he didn't come too close. He took a seat with Illyana instead.
Brian was hooking a bag of blood to the IV by the time she came to Nate's side and her hand fell on his shoulder as she looked over the patient. She turned and made eye contact with Ronan, who seemed fairly optimistic. "Warren," she said quietly, mostly to Nate. The Angel. Nathaniel fell somewhere between, and there was Brayden, absorbing blood and sprouting horns from his head. Zap's free hand came to rest on the boy's leg and she felt the energy running through him, a renewed, quenched sensation. "Your cousin," she began as she moved around Brian to stand by the other side of Brayden's bed from Nate, "went through something very similar at your age," the goddess explained to the unconscious boy, though she knew he could understand her. Her hand brushed through his hair, then lingered as her thumb ran up along the newly forming horns on his head. Her eyes shifted to look at Nate, then. "This is different from Warren's transformation," what with the blood sucking, "but he was weak when his wings began to grow, too. He said they couldn't keep him fed and he couldn't get enough sleep..." She smiled, though, and had silently been donating a bit of her own blood to the cause through her touch on his curly head. The transfusion had slowed to a stop, and she bent and kissed Brayden while Brian began hooking him up to more machinery. Eva rounded the side of the bed and motioned for Mateo to come to see his friend, who was still asleep but much rosier.
As she approached Nate, she waited for him to take his eyes from his son and then took his hand in hers and gave it a squeeze. "He'll have everything he needs and more," she reminded her adviser. The best of the best of the best of everything was at his disposal, on multiple realms. They'd sort him out in a jiffy. Her heart was swollen with love and relief, but anything more than hand-holding would've probably been deemed indiscrete. Nope. She was a hugger, and she pulled Nate's cool, sweaty form into her arms and held him for at least a minute before she relinquished her grasp. "He's stable," she smiled, "you should call Julia," Brayden's mother. All of Nate's pleading with his ex-wife for Brayden to attend Xavier's had proven fruitful... in an unfortunate and rocky start.
