Re: Boi-oi-oing.
He caught her, was relieved at the brief reprieve her scent wafting over him provided, then released Thea back into the wilds of Hel. Down floated Minor after her, and Loki motioned for the bear to stay with him. They'd need to hold the bridge. He watched Thea like a hawk as she made her crossing, and her last glance back at him gave Loki a shiver. He knew what was coming, of course, and she felt it too. Minor's fur might've stood on end had he been tangible.
After the initial cries, Loki threw caution to the wind and called out to the blonde in encouragement. "That's it!" he told her, "You've got it, come on," he said before turning to throw an elbow into the throat of a probable-rapist. The man fell backward but Loki had a feeling he'd be climbing right back up from the depths, given time. And these souls had nothing but time. "Thea!" he called again, as she wavered in her footing once. She was fine. The bear fought ferociously at Loki's side, claws and knives working in tandem. It was then that he could see Eva's presence in the animal. She was with them. He was glad, at the moment.
Once the blonde deity was within his grasp, he ensnared her from the bridge into his arm, careful not to touch her satchel to his skin, then pushed her toward the bear. His blood ran cold when he heard his name spoken so loudly and coldly that it rattled the walls of the caverns and tunnels and the very tree itself. The branches quaked and the dead began to flee. He turned.
"Yes?" he said, ready to greet his fate head-on. Surtur. Freshly re-crowned. Oh joy. "I trust your Ragnarok went well?" he said to the giant being of flame.
"It did not." He was in Helheim. "Asgard survives," the giant said from the center of the deep well of terror. He sat upon the island where Thea had just come from, and the tree of death had burst into flames, now replaced by the 'crown' of Surtur.
"So it does," Loki said, rather proudly.
"This cannot be."
Well, that wasn't what he wanted to hear at all. Loki looked to Thea over his shoulder: "Get to the surface, call upon Heimdall, don't look back."
