Christmas spirit is in short supply.
Nathaniel haunted the hall not far from where Eva had made her latest deal with the crossroads demon known as Loki. When she had unveiled her plan to retrieve Odin's possible pensive, Caltrops had been intrigued but cautioned Zap on dangers she was of course well aware of. Though, Nate knew that was an important requirement of his duty - to be both the angel and devil on his queen's shoulder.
When she approached, where he knew she would, the taller man left his shadowy refuge and matched time with her royal steps. "One last time..." he'd begun immediately, no need to give her a moment to process his appearance - she'd known his location the entire time. "I will repeat my objection with trusting Prince Loki with anything of importance," he shared, though the words felt obligatory this time. "I just want that on record so if the opportunity to say 'I told you so' appears I can smile and wave as it passes by." Nate had no intention of publicly second-guessing Eva. However, he'd hold onto that ammunition for a later date and use it against her during a private debate... as was their game.
"Just in case..." Nate paused only because he thought he heard the faint sounds of chains in the distance... Illyana and Kurt must have found a new target. "I've discovered a larger passage on the basin itself, might be useful in determining if what comes back is a forgery or not." He added with a bit of shade toward Loki, but also at Odin and Hela. These Asgardians' secrets had secrets - and though he'd hardly admit it, inside Caltrops enjoyed his and Eva's the search for the truth(s).
