Re: I'm bracing for the pain and I am letting go.
"Thankfully," Charles added after Dr. Banner had spoken, his sweater clad arm rose from his armrest to shake Bruce's hand. Regardless, the entire episode left Xavier with an upset sensation inside his core. The tide had pulled sand from beneath his feet, and Charles doubted the forces who had orchestrated this would suddenly disappear. "Were you aware... that Loki was present?" he asked, unsure if the Avengers had been clued into the plan.
'Excuse me', is what Logan should have said to Bruce and Chuck, but Logan didn't utter a single word before he broke off from the pack. Wolverine walked toward Eva and now his son who he'd sniffed even over the vehicle exhaust. "What happened?" Logan inquired, plenty hinged... sure. After Mateo's hug, Logan's hand went to the boys shoulder to ensure he stayed close to his parents, even while he embraced Eva. Logan finally allowed himself to relax, arms around Zap and Mateo against his leg.
"Excuse him," Charles offered his apologies to Bruce over Logan's abrupt exit. "He's... rude." Charles didn't feel like inventing a new colorful enthusiasm. But quickly the professor and the doctor joined the group and Charles had accepted Eva's thanks. "I'm just glad everything worked out for the best." He replied, still unsure if Eva felt as though Loki's appearance was a net positive.
Forge, who looked great - no reason to ask, followed Mateo because you didn't have to keep up if you knew where they were going. The wily older man nodded toward his daughter then focused his gaze on Loki, the trickster in the flesh. Uglier on this plane. "Thank you," he offered, then moved closer to Charles and Bruce.
"Careful, Bruce." Nat appeared from the quinjet, Bucky not far away now. "You know what proximity to Loki can do." She stared down Thor's brother, not about to give Loki an inch of slack yet.
