She was laughing. He smiled. Sophronia would never laugh at him, so he knew he'd amused her. After her answer, which came into parts, he blinked. "Oh."
"I do a lot of reading," he admitted, interjecting before she asked her own question. The tall man ran a hand through his hair a bit nervously and then raised his eyebrows, "I like to read them. Sometimes when I'm reading something, I wonder what the author was thinking when they wrote it. Or what had inspired them..." He smiled, hopefully conveying he wasn't an utter creep. "You haven't a lot of experience?" He said, suddenly, having just recalled what she'd mentioned.
"But you're..." he gestured to her as if that was plenty of explanation. She was raven-haired, bright-eyed, voluptuous - so many of the things that were found attractive in the romantic stories she scribed - and those that were written by others. Classically beautiful, David thought. He, too, found her attractive in those ways. "I'm a bit of a mess, myself, but I wouldn't have thought you'd have any issues." He grinned, sheepishly.
