My whole body hurts. We need to tone down this training bullshit.

Right. So I missed a lot. Haven't decided if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

[Private to the Avengers]
I recently had a conversation with a SHIELD agent who was looking to recruit me. You might want to stay on your toes and keep your eyes open for SHIELD in general. I got the impression they're doing better these days but... I thought that before too. I wanted to make sure you guys got a heads up.

[Private to Natasha]
I need to know you're schedule. I had a Dr. Stephen Strange approach me wanting me to arraign a meeting between you and him to work out an alliance. I said I'd reach out and see if I could schedule a lunch or something. He seemed genuine, not a guy chasing fame and fortune or something like that. He's magical and that's about all I can tell you. Have fun with the background check he was a real mysterious type.

Guess  I can chalk up us finding out Wanda's dad is Magneto to something that happened when I was still recovering? Just thought I'd point out our entire active roster (other than Wanda) depends heavily on metal- either for our weapons, our suits, whatever. If we end up throwing down with Magneto it's gonna be the shortest fight in superhero history. If Tony were available I'd suggest we get him working on some magnetic shielding or non-metal alternative weapons, but his head isn't in a place where he can do much right now. Anyone know any tech heads who can help us out?

I'm not trying to rock the boat here Ma'am, but you all the team seems real close knit these days. Which is great for morale, but less so for having an array perspectives when it comes to problem solving. With my background, politics, etc. it feels like my point-of-view is distinct from the rest of the team, and my duty to keep us from descending into Groupthink. Hope I'm not outta line.

If the captain of a nuclear sub found out his Dad was the head of ISIS, his career would be done- let alone if he decided he was gonna reconcile with the old man. Obviously that's not an option here, but I just want to highlight the issue and how it'll be perceived if and when outsiders find out about it. I like Wanda, she seems like a good kid, but her track record of volunteering to join HYDRA and teaming up with Ultron doesn't exactly look good on paper. I'll keep this to myself as long as I can, but I'll have to come clean with my superiors eventually, and the Pentagon is going to go apeshit.

So I made the mistake of going through the mail at the Avengers compound (read: we need a secretary and I need a new book). The hate letters, I don't mind, especially the one that turned the letters of AVENGERS into a rude acrostic poem. That one's going on my wall.

The disturbing things are the gifts.

Scott - I don't know how you already have mail, but you have approximately 60 fan letters and an Antman portrait made on a grain of rice. It's impressive.

Clint - There are so many Merida, Katniss, and Legolas figurines that I lost count. I'm going to just give them to you one at a time. In interesting ways. There are also fan letters, strangely.

Rhodey - I don't know if you know how many people you inspire, but you have 617 fan letters and two dozen pictures of kids and adults dressed as War Machine. There a quite a few drawings, too.

Wanda - Kids love you. So many drawings, homemade figurines, and invitations to birthday parties that it puts the rest of us to shame. You also have 3 plane tickets to come and visit fans and show them how to do that 'hand thing.' Do not accept.

Steve - I know you're not with us anymore, but you got the bulk of it, Cap. Letters, tickets to baseball games, drawings, homemade t-shirts - you name it. Come and pick it up or I'm bringing it all to your apartment myself.

Bucky - You got your own haul too, Barnes. Lots of fan fiction of you marrying random strangers and/or Steve. Congratulations.

Jessica - Apparently people think you're an Avenger? Anyway, I'd give these letters to your lawyer, because there are tons of testimonials about Killgrave's influence, thanking you for getting rid of him.

See what I mean? All of that love. Disturbing.

» I am wondering
» Have you had a chance to look into those things?
» Has anything come up?

[dad Erik]

» I have been thinking
» It would be best for me to master these powers in order to control them
» And in doing that I am best to learn from someone who has done it before.
» If your offer of teaching still stands.

I talked to Clint and Nat about this but how do people feel about a pot luck?

I was thinking originally just the Avengers but maybe everyone. We could all use a chance to talk and get to know each other. More and more people with abilities are stepping up, stepping forward, we should get to know who we're working with.

I mean, I'm still retired but I don't mind hosting. Though I probably can't fit everyone in our apartment.
