Emma hadn't been allowed to try the cake. Had it been simply a case of doing it for herself, perhaps, but since this was for public consumption, Emma had been relegated to something that, if it didn't work out, could be store bought and still work out on the home-made aspect that the kids from the Institute liked for their special days.
Chocolate, while fairly time consuming, wasn't too difficult to make.
"I'm not sure if I'm on the road to master chocolatier, no, but...Well, we like to give the kids something special, something they can't buy." Considering so many of them didn't have parents that cared anymore, it was just a little extra. "Unless someone has a not-entirely-sweet tooth?"
