Re: Peggy Carter and Victor von Doom and OPEN
Victor followed along behind, allowing Agent Carter to clear the way first. He took no particular care, hands clasped behind his back, but he did not interfere with her maneuvers.
At her admission, Victor felt a sense of great relief inside. This woman, Ms. Carter, was in the same situation he was. This meant that it was unlikely Victor had been the victim of an accident or injury. And it meant that she knew as little as he did, erasing what superiority she might have held over him.
"Victor von Doom," he said in simple reply, realizing he had not offered his name. Realizing as well that he knew his name, but nothing else. A curious type of memory loss.
He hesitated a moment, but chose to disclose the truth to her. She was clearly a capable woman, and together they had a better chance of solving this puzzle. "I also remember only my name. I thought perhaps it was an injury, but the likelihood of us both having the same medical result from injury is vanishingly small. It seems our memories have been removed, likely from whoever it was that sent us here. A great deal of effort has been made to leave us in this barren looking place, bereft of our past."
He followed her up the stairs, his footsteps measured and heavy. A dull heavy anger began to grow in his heart at the idea that he had been placed in this situation, tampered with in this way. The anger felt familiar, a source of strength.
