The reaction to his introducing himself and attempting to reassure the frightened young was enough to cause Kurt to take another step back from him. The continuing stream of questions gave Kurt pause enough to think that perhaps he might not be able to assuage the fears the other was displaying. Something about the situation felt familiar too, which didn't give him and more comfort of successfully helping rather than causing things to become more difficult. Seeing the fear in the other man's eyes reminded him that there was only one other person who, like himself, looked incredibly different than anyone else here and somehow he knew that his appearance must have been alarming to others where ever it was that he had come from. There was a face that could launch a thousand ships, and then there was his face that likely would launch a thousand pitchforks and an angry mob.
He shook his head very slightly in an attempt to forget the thoughts creeping into his mind and making his confidence in helping this young man waver. No, he must try and help, regardless of the results. "I am not the one who brought you here. I understand you are alarmed; none of us were sent here willingly."
He kept his hand lifted enough to continue a sign of meaning no harm. "We all arrived in pods falling from the sky, like you must have. I heard one arrive and am just assuming you were the one within it." He scanned for injuries before asking, "Are you hurt?"
