"Oh completely understandable. They aren't the cutest thing to look at. Imagine if we were up against cuddly bears of doom - that - that would be really hard. Maybe the people here would be less obsessed with killing them." Doug shot a lopsided smile at her that might have held a grain of bitterness. He understood the need to procure a safe location for the group but that was a very different thing than flat out mass murder. "In any case, they said they found this one in the cave already dead so it probably didn't attack anyone. Probably. I'm dying to know what killed it though. That could tell us so much more about them and I'm rambling and you're getting bored."
He exhaled a sympathetic sigh and gave her a better, more sincere smile. "I'm sorry. I bet it was a pretty bad day for you to arrive. Well, I mean, not that there is a good day to get here, but it must have been rough." Taking his attention off the bug, he turned to her and extended his hand. "I'm Doug, by the way, Doug Ramsey. It's a pleasure --- oh gosh, sorry, sorry I touched the bug, wow, no, we shouldn't shake hand." He retracted and waved awkwardly instead. "I'm usually a lot cooler... Usually."
