The possibility of another option caused her to sit up straighter, her pulse quickening at the potential for her graduation to come sooner rather than much, much later.
"I really wouldn't mind working hard, 'cause I know that in order to get anything done, I have to focus and put in the time and effort. My mom and I talked a lot about that when I was back home, and I have to stop letting things slide even when I get distracted. Which I do tend to do."
Pausing, she shook her head. "Okay, that sounded really bad. I want to finish up and graduate and get good grades instead of squeaking by. Even though sometimes math problems seem to like, move around on the page and the numbers don't make sense, I know that I just have to find another way to figure it out. I'm willing to figure it out and put more time than I have before, since I think it is totally obvious that math is really hard for me."
Megan took a breath as she looked down at her pretty new planner, idly pulling the pen out of the planner and twirling it around her fingers. She didn't know if she made sense - sometimes her explanation sounded so dumb to her. She knew what she wanted to say, but sometimes it did not want to come out the right way.
