Who: Steve Rogers, Jen Walters NPCs: Gallery goers When: Saturday, February 19 - evening Where: Fahey Klein Gallery, Los Angeles What: At a gallery opening of his art, Steve meets Jen for the first time in this AU world Rating: PG-13
It was the first time Steve's art was shown outside of New York City, which was a big thing, he was told. Though he was not the type of person to publicize himself, Steve's agent insisted that he personally be present at the opening. It would be good press and draw a crowd. As if he needed any more publicity. Steve was already a celebrity, of sorts. Everybody seemed to know who Captain America was, and if they didn't, they were introduced to him on the talk show circuit. After the hype died down, Steve settled back into civilian life, which included training fighters like Danny and his artwork.
Steve's paintings were novel - the subject generally dealt with memories of WWII, which by definition, was not happy. The images portrayed were different from what people experienced and served to remind them how grateful they were that life was now blissful and perfect. Steve mingled with the crowd, a little uncomfortable with all the attention, but fortunately it wouldn't last for long. He paused in front of one of his most widely known paintings and looked into the face of the staring soldier - a shadow from the past. He grimaced. Something was wrong, though he couldn't put his finger on it. Not with the painting, but with the universe. Or so if felt. Steve took sip of sparkling apple juice, hoping that the feeling would fade.
