Ant-Man - Narrative / Open
Who: Hank Pym
NPCs: N/A
When: Monday October 4th, 2010
Where: NYC Avengers Mansion
What: Hank is having a Monday -- which in Hank Pym terms means that science has gone a little wonky (but not running amok)
Rating: G
Note: The cat is not evil. It is just a robotic cat that Hank made, no evil intentions -- honest!
"Oh. Oh boy." Hank had that feeling in his gut -- that sinking feeling. And not the "woosh" vaguely amusement park ride sinking feeling that he got when he used Pym Particles to shrink down. No, this was the sinking "I forgot to fasten the robotic cat to the table" kind of sinking feeling. And now, now he was staring at the work table where the cat had been located and seeing nothing. The cat was gone, and the door to his lab was swinging wide open.
Hank had been working on the cat in semi-secret, and it was a step up from the robotic mice that he had created for his and Jan's flesh and blood cat to play with. It wasn't that he didn't want to share the advances he had made it was just that ...well he didn't want anyone to think that perhaps he was replacing the flesh and blood cat that had run away from Jan and himself with one made of metal and gears. Even if he kind of was ... he planed to program the damn thing so it stayed put. Plus! It would never cough up a hairball!
So Hank had been keeping the cat down in the lab, making sure that it was deactivated each evening before he left, and activating it when he came into the lab each morning. He had been nearing completion on it, and had been intending to do some final upgrading today -- and then he thought that he would be ready to share his latest project with the world. So he had put the cat up on the table, but left it turned on, and un secured, and obviously he had left the door open. And now the cat was on the loose.
It wasn't programed to do anything but hunt down the robotic mice -- so he wasn't worried about it doing something crazy. However it was a cat (albeit a robotic one) he thought that it might do something contrary, as cats were prone to do.
Shaking his head, Hank took off out of his lab. He had to be very very quiet (and sneaky) he was hunting down an escaped project.
