NPCs: partygoers
When: Thursday, 9/30(backdated)
Where: Trendy Lounge in Tribeca
What: Felicia and Johnny meet at a party.
Rating: PG-13
With her recent time spent as a silvery metal thing, Felicia had been out of the social scene for far too long. As a result, she had been hitting up every party she could get an invitation to, constantly making herself up and running out of the apartment with or without Warren in tow. She tried to be sensitive to her boyfriend, knowing he wasn’t the party all the time type. However, she had stamina for this kind of thing, and she knew that if she woke up without a champagne hangover, then the night hadn’t been a success.
To this effect, she was chatting it up with some models who were riding off the high of fashion week. It was the prime location to be seen and to get her picture taken--notorious socialite hangs with up and coming faces! Of course, she’d made a point to look her best. There was no use in getting upstaged by some 18-year-old.
So Johnny Storm was once again living it up. Ha, single life was far better than anything. Psshh, who knows how he’d ended up attached to Angelica Jones for so long. That was his official story, and he was sticking to it. Even if anyone with half a brain could notice that he was avoiding every redhead on the planet at this party and downing a bit more liquor than this type of party really needed.
So he made the rounds took a few pictures, when he spotted a hot blonde in a tiny dress. One who didn’t seem ten years his junior, so he didn’t feel like David Wooderson from Dazed and Confused. He grabbed another champagne flute from a nearby waiter when he noticed her glass was empty. Yes, his plan was to show up like a knight bearing alcohol. So he stepped up when a few of the models dispersed, glass of champagne in hand with a smile. And he remembered her, of course they been in halloween costumes the other time they’d met. “Perfect picture as always, Felicia.” Dear God, let that have been her name.
Felicia turned her face towards the voice and smiled. Being seen with Johnny Storm...now that was better press than she could have imagined. Luck, it seemed, was on her side. “Aren’t you sweet, Johnny! Is that for me?” She gestured to the flute in his hand. This was a tricky game she was playing. It’d help to keep him interested and by her for photo op time, but at the same time, she didn’t want to give him too much encouragement.
He held the glass out for her when she’d asked. “I can never leave a woman with an empty champagne glass.” Especially at a party, where the purpose was really to drink a little to excess and have a good time. He took a drink from his own glass, which admittedly had something stronger than champagne in it. “You know,” he said moving in closer to her to make sure she could hear him over some of the music. “I think you should come dance with me.”
Felicia took a sip from her glass, her lips curving up into a sly smile. “Yeah?” She leaned in a bit closer, under the pretense of making sure he could hear her. “That sounds like fun.” She slipped past him, catching his free hand with hers as she kicked back her champagne. What she wouldn’t have given for a night like this when she was single: booze, music and a hot guy hitting on her! There was nothing better in all the world, but tonight, all she could do was count off the hours until she could stagger her way into the cab home and fall into Warren’s arms again.
Oh yes, tonight was definitely looking up. When Felicia grabbed his hand and began to pull him to the dance floor, he downed the rest of his drink as well and set the glass on a random table. See? He’d totally be sitting at home bored if Angelica hadn’t cut him free. Once on the floor he really didn’t speak. He pulled her hand to pull her towards him as a new song with a heavy beat started to blast over the speakers. There wasn’t anything quite like dancing with a hot girl and not really having to think.
Unfortunately for Felicia, she couldn't just turn off her brain and not think about anything. Her current preoccupation was about anyone with a camera phone, wondering how to maintain the best angle for a picture and how to take a picture that suggested something without her having to do anything particularly salacious. She swayed against him, turning to murmur in his ear. “You’re a terrific dancer.”
Johnny was no stranger to wanting your picture taken and wanting on people’s minds. He was well aware that some people liked attention like that. Hell, he loved attention like that, and it had been awhile since he’d truly gone out a partied. He knew how he was, and he’d actually liked Angelica enough to just... keep himself out of temptation’s way. But really all thought did tend to stop when there was an attractive woman that close to you dancing and whispering in your ear. “Really?” He asked leaning towards her ear when she did a turning motion. “I have a definite feeling you just make me look extremely good.”
Just then there was a flash as a professional sort of camera went off right in front of them, and he couldn’t help but pause to actually blink away spots. What the hell ever happened to photos from a distance, camera phones, and stuff?
Oh thank god, Felicia thought, striking a pose of mild surprise even as she turned her body at a flattering angle. This was way better than being photographed on some dinky, dim camera phone. They might even make a gossip rag! She turned closer to Johnny. “I should go...” She pulled away from him, weakly hiding herself from the enthusiastic photographer in a way that completely did not hide her from the camera. They had been dancing close enough to warrant speculation, and that was enough to get Felicia a few phone calls from the right important people. Sure, she’d have to explain it to her boyfriend, but it would be worth it.
