She had to go back sometime; she just wasn't ready yet. Rogue had been at the school since she was 14 -- nonstop -- and now she was finally getting a taste of the outside world. It was difficult, now, to think about heading back to the school and the same old, same old routine of everyday life.
Not that crazy, exciting things didn't happen at the school all the time, what with the missions and kids misbehaving and the like, but Rogue felt the need for something different. Which was why she'd gone to Chicago. And then Mississippi where she loitered and never quite made it to the house she'd grown up in.
And, really, all she was doing was delaying going to Australia. Things had been weird between her and John when they'd thought the world was going to end. Their conversation hardly made for one that could be taken as a be all and end all. They'd thought they were going to die for goodness sake. So this needed to be done.
Even if she was half tempted to camp out in New Zealand and just hide.
Or at least take another few days to get to Australia.
