Who: Cain Marko NPC: Charles Xavier When: 11th November, 2009 [Backdated] Where: Xavier's School: Charles' Office What: After Cain's brief confrontation with Rogue, he finally makes it to Charles' office to make his offer. Rating: PG
Charles didn't know what he was thinking when he had agreed to meet with Cain, but he wasn't going to tell anyone that he was thinking about how fifty years ago he felt like he almost had a brother. He certainly wasn't going to tell anyone that he felt guilty for leaving Cain in that crumbling temple without making sure he was dead or alive. People looked up to him to know all and be secure in his decisions and actions. There was no need to dissuade them with the revelation that he could occasionally be sentimental and let his emotions influence his choices.
Did Charles believe that he and Cain could recapture those very brief years where it almost felt like they were family? No, not in this lifetime.
But that didn't stop Charles from feeling like he owed Cain something. If he could somehow assuage the guilt he still felt and stop the Juggernaut from committing more acts of violence, then he thought he could afford to let his feelings influence his decisions just this once and allow this meeting.
Really, what could one conversation hurt?
Aside from the small incident with Rogue (nothing the landscaper couldn't fix), Charles felt like something good could come out of today.
Because he hated to disappoint Cain's perception that he was meddling telepeth, he spoke telepathically before his office door could be knocked on. -Come in Cain. I've been expecting you.-
