It took a few more choice colorful words and a great deal of effort - but after about ten minutes spent underneath the large mahogany desk, Sharon Carter emerged, shoving her fingers roughly back through her touseled locks of blond hair. Reaching up onto the desk, she pushed the power button on the front of the terminal in front of her...and was relieved when the whole thing immediately began to boot up with a familiar sound of softly whirring motors and fans.
"There we go," she stated proudly, dusting her hands together as she finished crawling out from under the desk and surveyed her work station with a pleased look as her hands settled on her hips. "Easy as that."
Turning around slowly, Sharon took in the rest of their quarters with an appraising eye. They'd been assigned to one of the suites at the Omni Chicago Hotel. It was a pleasantly large room with a "living room" area separated from the bedroom and bathroom by a decorative door. A small kitchenette came stocked with terribly overpriced beverages and snacks and a balcony allowed a lovely view of the city beyond.
One thing was for certain, S.H.I.E.L.D. did not spare any expense when it came to the comfort and missions of their agents.
Well, in this case anyways.
Luckily this was a mission where-in they would be at a greater advantage working from one of the nicer, higher-end suites of a grand hotel rather than slinking about in some dump as Sharon had done on more than one occasion. (She'd been in several hotels where she wound up sleeping on the floor, afraid of where those particular stains on the bed might have come from.) However, if they were going to be looking into A.I.M., it was better for them to be in a place where they might be able to make connections with those that knew something of it. Funding for the projects had to be coming from somewhere - which made it easy to believe that this was not your everyday run-of-the-mill thugs looking to make a name for themselves. No, there was money involved here...and alot of it.
The real question was - from where?
