Who: Dane Whitman NPCs: A dealer of books When: Tuesday: October 13th (backdated) Where: Florence: Italy What: Dane is on "vacation" from MI:13 as he tracks down a person whom his uncle had dealings with. And retrieves a book from the family collection that his uncle sold. Book is not cursed, so Dane all things considered catches a lucky break with this Garrett Family legacy. Rating: G
"It was a diary, he sold it to you, I found a copy of the transaction in his records. I can't imagine it's very interesting ... it's just William Garrett's dairy." Dane tried to give a winning smile to the person on the other side of the counter. The book seller looked unimpressed, but Dane kept the smile on his face. This conversation was taking place in English since Dane's grasp on Italian was non existent, the book seller was talking to him in English, and Dane hoped that that was what was making him so cranky.
"I see. We process many books here." The book seller gestured around at the many, many shelves that lined the room and the books that were piled on them.
Dane nodded his head in understanding and than pointed over at computer that was at the end of the counter. "But you have a computer, so you have some sort of inventory maybe? If the diary has been sold, okay. But if you have it here, I want to buy it back."
The shopkeeper snorted, and than moved over to the computer and began typing.

In the end, the diary was found. Dane couldn't afford to buy back all the books that Nathan had sold -- apparently deciding to be an evil geneticist with designs on trying to splice genes and create god knows what -- had required a lot of capital. Which Nathan had tried to raise by selling off pieces of his estate, including a set of books that had included one of their ancestors diary. From what Dane had been able to determine due to family records, William Garrett had been a solider in the first world war. And apparently he had had a sword. So naturally Dane was interested in his dairy.
Handing over the payment for the small leather bound book, Dane thanked the shopkeeper, and pocketed the mans card. He was going to make it a point to try and buy back some of the other books that Nathan had sold, but for now, Dane was just happy to have the dairy back. He glanced down at it, as he put it in his bag. He had wrapped up this business a bit sooner than he had thought he would -- so now he could enjoy the rest of his vacation. He could see the sights of Florence, or he could stay in his hotel and pour over the diary and try and find out more about his families past.
