The apology was nice to hear but it didn't feel like enough. When she lost her arm, she'd been a mess. Colleen was there, and she'd stuck with her. Lil had done what she could, Matt as well, and Felicia helped in her own right. She wasn't completely alone and maybe Misty worried that if he ever did come back he wouldn't...no, she was just angry right now and there were a lot of conflicting emotions going through her head. On one hand she was glad to see he was alive, safe, though slightly beaten...
"Well," she said, "Yeah, it happened. I have some things to do." Wash her hair, rearrange her sock drawer, something that didn't involve standing at her door and facing her...well, she wasn't sure anymore what he was. Her friend? Ex-boyfriend? Lover? Maybe she'd think about this later. He had brought her flowers and Chinese, and he walked into more than he was prepared to deal with.
"You should go," she added, "we can talk another time but I'm not really in the mood right now, Danny." Misty sounded a little sad but she just suddenly felt really tired. It wasn't a complete shut out but she hoped it was clear that she wasn't up for talking about this right then and there. Seeing him pulled at heart strings but her own pride and hurt had prevented her from reacting the way he might have hoped she would.
