Who: Hannibal, Kate (and Open) NPCs: Vampires. Those damn sneaky vampires. When:March 29th, 2013 (backdated to Friday) [re-posted to now: June 6th, 2013] Where: New York City What: After these emails Hannibal has a lead on some vampire like activity. And Kate's his bait back up. Rating: TBA (there is gonna be vampire related violence!)
The only thing that Hannibal hated more then vampires and vampire familiars, were people who got in his way when he was trying to hunt. He was really hoping that this Kate girl wasn't going to get in his way. As he stood across the street from the club that she had indicated in her emails, and watched the line up outside, he decided that maybe having her along would be helpful like. This club seemed to appeal to a younger demographic after all.
Dropping his cigarette to the ground, he stomped it out with his foot, and then looked around. It was just after dark, so the vampires would just be coming out to play right around now.
Kate was good at many things, including being punctual. Normally. Tonight, though, was kind of weird because she wasn't sure if she should dress for clubbing or for fighting. She'd tried asking herself the age old What would Hawkeye do? question but realized she didn't have any idea what the answer might be. Ultimately, she decided to split the difference, throwing on stylishly baggy jeans and a hip-length trench over her costume. Slung over her shoulder was a giant purse, inside which she'd stashed her bow, quiver with arrows, sword and batons that normally would've been holstered on her leg. Because she didn't know what worked best against vampires or if this Henry guy was really just a nutjob in which case she might need to use something against him, so... yeah.
Anyway, she was really only a couple of minutes late, so Kate figured it wasn't a big deal. The club across the way was already getting some action but her attention was on the building Henry had directed her toward. Unfortunately, it was that awkward time of night where things were just dark enough that every shadow was huge but not all the lights had come on yet. She thought she saw movement and turned that direction. "Henry?" It didn't sound terribly hesitant and, for that, Kate was grateful. She didn't want him treating her like some kid... even if she didn't have much (or any) experience with this stuff.
"Kate." He tried to do that just appearing out of the shadows thing that the vamps had down, but he didn't know how well it worked. He was torn between being glad she had shown up, and irritated that she had. He worked best on his own, or with trained Nightstalkers, and Kate was - just a girl. Oh well, if she got hurt or anything, it would be on her, since he had told her not to come.
(Not that he had put up much of a fight when she insisted on coming anyway.)
He eyed the purse she had with her - it looked huge. Kids these days. Didn't they all have iPhones and iwhatsits that were tiny little things? Oh well maybe big purses were in.
He lit a new cigarette as he turned his attention back to the club. "There's a back way in. Already bribed one of the people who work the kitchen to let me in that way. You go in the front, take a trip around the perimeter and see if you see anything. I'll meet you by the doors to the kitchen."
The good news was that Kate hadn't jumped when the shadows melted to reveal Henry. She kept it purely business, nodding with a serious expression to confirm her agreement. His plan sounded decent enough to her and it wasn't like she had any better ideas.
Kate was about to set off when something occurred to her: "What exactly am I looking for? I mean, they won't be blatantly drinking people in the club or whatever, right?" That would be seriously stupid; the club might have dim corners but there was hardly what anyone would consider privacy.
"Look for fangs, or --" He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cellphone and flipped to some pictures of vampire glyphs. "These. Often on wrists, or the back of peoples necks. Means that someone's vamp, or more likely a familiar, which is like a helper." He didn't have time to give her a crash course in vampires.
"Look for staircases leading down, they'll probably be wanting to take their food," because that's what people were food. "To a lower level to dine. It's ... messy a lot of the time. So look for anyone who might have bloodstains on them leaving."
