THREAD: Ain't no party like a Consulate party...
Who: Monet (has lots of middle names) St. Croix, Namor + OT any X-Folks who would've taken up her father's invitation
NPCs: Cartier St. Croix, Nicole St. Croix, Claudette St. Croix, other dignitary types
When: 05 June 2013 -- evening
Where: Monacan Consulate → New York City, NY
What: Monet's father hosts a diplomatic event that her whole family (minus the evil brother) is attending. Heads of state, other important people and X-Folk are welcome. Riff-raff are not.
Rating: PGish
Monet stood between her father and her twin sisters, engaging various guests as they came to pay their compliments to the host. She'd done some greeting duties earlier but these were much more involved conversations that allowed her to flex her language skills some. (In many ways her current work with X-Factor did little to challenge her intellect; it was unfortunate, however, she stood by her decision. Something her father had discussed with her at length during her visit.)
Nicole was in fine form, holding Claudette's hand and chatting away happily with anyone who addressed the twins. She answered for both of them, though most knew of Claudette's autism (it was hardly a secret, especially since Cartier gave that cause the majority of his philanthropic attentions) and did not attempt to speak with her beyond vague compliments to her outfit, hair, etc. And Monet was there to swoop in if she saw anyone making her sister uncomfortable. Thankfully it had not been necessary-- yet.
Picking up a glass of champagne from a waiter's tray, Monet smirked slightly. It was, in her opinion, much better to use glasses not in the shape of test tubes. But the Storm-Richards wedding hadn't been the trying affair she'd anticipated and thus did not feel the need to disparage the event-- much. (It was actually kind of fun seeing DNA sequencing and other science-related things; it made her oddly reminiscent of her school days, which was odd since that had been a very low period for her.)
Well, no matter. Monet was here now with her family and she was going to enjoy herself. She saw so little of them, after all. The twins would be herded off to bed shortly (their nanny was never far away, hovering just in case Claudette or Nicole needed something) and then her father would be all business. But there were several interesting looking gentlemen about and, if all else failed, she could always go clubbing. This was New York City, after all, and she would enjoy herself. There was no question.
OOC: Please feel free to start subthreads/join in if you like-- or not! Monet would be thrilled if no X-Types came to embarrass her and meet her family. ;)
