The long awaited day had arrived, six years in the making since the moment Reed Richards first proposed to Susan Storm. Although Sue was counting on nothing more than wrangling Reed out of his lab coat and into a suit to attend their own courthouse wedding, Reed had made other plans. Along with his partner in crime, Pepper Potts, Reed had enlisted the help of Tony Stark and Hank Pym to make sure this day, and all of its potential complications, would be not only successful, but a treasured memory for the rest of Reed and Sue's long married lives.
The wedding bands had been one of Reed's projects for a long time. Although simple and classic yellow gold on the outside, inside was a transponder that had a connection that crossed inter-dimensionally one to another so that, no matter how far apart one ring was from the other, it could be reached and would alert the other in times of danger. Much like the Fantastic Four suits themselves, the rings were tracking devices. Reed had seen too much to consider it overkill.
Reed has taken all the necessary precautions to ensure his desire for the perfect (uninterrupted!) wedding for Sue goes off without a hitch so he took great care in inventing a device that will temporarily STOP TIME within its field of range. The device is stationed at the roof of the Baxter Building and projects downward all the way to the street level, including all the tenant apartments housed within Baxter. The field of time disruption itself is invisible to the naked eye and the device looks like any other peculiar tech of Reed’s that was constantly changing and being mounted on the roof. No one would know what it is, except for Tony Stark and Hank Pym who he shared the little secret with and compared notes to ensure he did the equations properly (and that it won’t blow up and shoot everyone forward or backwards in time. Time will resume back to normal when Reed deactivates the field at the end of the wedding, but all the guests will be a few hours older than the rest of the world.
Sue Storm and Reed Richards weren't going to get married without the media finding out somehow. Granted, by now, they were used to hearing of Sue talking about the wedding and yet this time, they seemed to pick up on the fact that it was actually happening. That was the problem when your super hero identity was your actual identity. No one knew how they found out the secret arrangements that Reed had made, especially since Sue never picked up on it.
They lined around the entrance with security for the event keeping them blocked outside and so as people arrived, their pictures were taken and people were shouting their names. It was up to the person to stop and pose for the cameras as they wanted, or they could just hurry inside and try to avoid the cameras entirely.
Once inside, the guests will have passed through Reed’s Time Cone invention and, much to the surprise of the paparazzi outside, only five minutes will pass before the guests reappeared, post wedding and reception in varying states of drunkenness, and drove/flew home!
