Gray clouds hung over the moon, covering the grounds of Xavier's School in shadows. A summer night breeze whispered softly over the grass, disturbing the otherwise peaceful night.
It was the perfect night for Selene.
The shadows both covered her approach and allowed her to use them to her advantage; the gates of the school were easily to manipulate to allow her entrance, and the darkness helped to keep her from being seen. Her mind was heavily shielded from any psionic attacks, since she knew there were those at the school with such abilities. The information Amara sent her came to great use, as she was able to avoid or block all the security features the school had available. Even with all her planning, there was still great risk involved in such a venture. After the years of keeping herself hidden, Selene no longer cared about the risk. It was time to decide if she was the Black Queen or a shadow of the greatness.
Slipping into the school building itself was just as easy as getting through the front gates. A little bit of shadow was used to create an opening in the door and she easily entered the school. Her footsteps were silent as she padded through the hallways of the school, peeking into specific rooms - student rooms - to assess if any caught her interest enough to take a life force. She knew enough about their abilities and personality to get an idea of their worth, but it was important to see the living, breathing being to gain a full perspective.
A few seemed worthy, but were not her ultimate goal. Not this time.
Taking on the appearance of Amara, she traveled down to the Sub-Levels, where all the inner-workings of the X-Mean team occurred. Using the codes she had obtained, and letting the scanners check her appearance, Selene entered the secret base of the X-Men. She changed back to her own form, wanting to conserve energy. While Amara had given her quite a good deal of information, there were things she could not send along. Selene was here to take the information herself, specifically the name and locations of mutant children not at the school and as many schematics as possible having to do with the X-Men, their gadgets, and the school itself.
The hallways down here were vastly different from the old, homey style of the rest of the mansion. Here was all cool and gray, reminding her more of a military institute than a school. She entered the room she knew had all the computers and began downloading information, using the security codes Amara had supplied.
