When did life get to be so hard? And this was above and beyond the usual drama that followed her closely. Alison had no idea. She tried to consider the last year and where it had taken her and wondered if there was some sort of misstep that she had inadvertently made. And that if she could just go back... And fix it all. None of this could have ever happened. It made her wistful for Australia. Although, after pointing it out, Madison was right. They could never go back to that time. And if they could, would they? They could no longer live in ignorance of what was going on in the world around them, try as they might. It was probably why neither Alison or Madison was adjusting well to the recent developments and the loss of Petra.
They were seated on her "terrace" which was more like a few open industrial windows and a small patch of roof that Alison had decorated to look like a patio. She had moved into this space with her sister so she could make music and throw awesome parties. But right now she didn't much feel like doing either of those things. In fact, the only thing she had contemplated lately was hurling herself off of that very roof...
"I"m glad you decided to come over," Alison said quietly. "Its good to catch up." Alison was different than she had once been, the last few months having taken their tole. Her hair had grown shaggy and the woman who had once sparkled just seemed altogether grey and flat. "Here, hit that," she said and passed over the joint. It was just like old times, except not really. At least Alison was still able to acquire stuff.
"Can I get you something to drink? Beer? Water? Lois has got the fridge stocked..."
