Helping him get comfortable, Pepper pulled up a chair next to him.
It helped a little to know that he wanted to stay and help as much as she did, but she couldn't staunch the sense of responsibility she felt for him. "You've been protecting me along with Tony for so many years. I just feel like this one time I was in a position where maybe I should have been looking after you and now you're hurt." He was a grown man, of course, and a former boxer, but Pepper made a living taking care of others.
