Re: Mall Brawl - North Corridor
As soon as Happy was safely in Jen's arms, Pepper yelled for JARVIS to increased the power to her thrusters and held on tighter to the creature. It was a jerky ride and a fierce struggle as she tried to direct them both without letting go, aiming for the fountain in the center of the mall.
One talon came up against her torso and scraped along the metal with an ear-splitting shriek as it forced her away. Bringing up her feet, Pepper engaged her thrusters and gave one strong burst, sending the monster tumbling exactly where she wanted it - splashing into the water - and herself crashing into the concrete balcony of the second level.
There wasn't time to waste shaking it off. Getting back up and reversing direction as JARVIS gave her a systems report, Pepper returned to the fountain just as the monster was getting back to it's feet and preparing to get out of it.
She didn't give it a chance. Concentrating hard, Pepper focused on the electromagnet in her chest, increasing the output of energy, and the directing it all into the fountain, using the water as a conductor to carry it into the creature's body. A halo of golden light surrounded her, growing in size and intensity, and a current of snapping, sparkling electricity shot from her through the water, lighting up the beast as it shrieked in pain, spasmed, then fell back, motionless.
Panting, Pepper let the energy output from the arc reactor start to recede again, the orb of light around her slowly fading. She'd never used quite that much before, and she felt as though she'd run a marathon and just gotten her second wind, ready to go again.
Turning around, she went to look for Jen and Happy. It was time to get him out of there and leave the super hero stuff to the pros.
