Who: Black Cat and Spider-Man NPCs: Train passengers When: 9/25/11 - later that morning Where: The train from Manhattan to Queens out of Grand Central Station - dining car What: Peter and Felicia unmask Rating: PG-13
This was, by far, the stupidest thing Peter had ever done, but he knew better than anyone what the Green Goblin was capable of doing to those who didn't play ball with him, and if Black Cat was telling the truth - and he thought she was - then she was in just as much trouble as he was. They needed to talk, and they couldn't risk doing it as Spidey and Cat, somewhere Gobby could find and recognize them.
Except that if this was really Norman Osborn, somehow back from the dead, then Peter's identity was already compromised. He just had to hope that he could cover his tracks well enough to protect Cat and her identity while they figured out what to do next.
He had never told anyone his secret before, and anxiety was rushing through him like a water flume on an amusement park ride. He didn't want to do it - he hated that he had to - but there just wasn't time for anything else. Getting onto the early morning train to Queens at Grand Central Station, Peter kept his eyes open for any signs of danger. His costume was still on beneath his street clothes, as usual, but he'd showered and changed for work later that day, and was trying not to feel like he was about to go on a blind date.
Making his way through the sparsely populated cars - it was still a little too early for rush hour - Peter headed back to the dining car, wondering if he should have suggested they wear some sort of matching flower to help them identify one another.
