NPCs: Sentinels.
Location: New York City, New York.
Timeline: Thursday, October 10.

And Doug is taking her out to the city to celebrate but they run into a Sentinel and the Sentinel is like hey how come you aren’t registered and Megan is like WTF I REGISTERED!! But the Sentinel is like no not you, him! And Doug is like lol silly Sentinel I’m not a mutant, and the Sentinel is like um yeah you are. And Doug is like UM SQUEEZE ME? And then the Sentinel opens fire on them and things get really bad! But then Sam comes BLASTING IN and saves everyone. Except himself.
Rating: PG-13 for roboviolence.
It was the first time Megan left the school and it was also her birthday! It had to be a good day. Doug was making sure of it. He’d gotten her some birthday balloons (that they left behind at the school or else those would be annoying to carry around) and had a super secret present stashed away in his messenger bag to give her later.
They finished on their abridged tour of Central Park, where he’d pointed out the ice-skating rink to her and tried to convince her to come ice-skating with him in the winter. Because ice-skating in Central Park was just kind of a must-do in New York. Crossing over the vast grass lawn with Megan next to him, he pointed up at the trees. The leaves were starting to change colors and pretty soon, all of New York would be draped in the distinctive autumn red and brown.
He was leading them out of the park and back onto the streets when he spotted a street performer dressed up as the Statue of Liberty. It was one of the well-known sights around Central Park, and Doug wanted Megan to see it. “Hey, Megan! Let’s go take a picture with him!”
But Statue of Liberty Guy wasn’t the only thing waiting for them. Doug came to a sharp halt when a Sentinel greeted him instead. A real one, by the way. Not someone dressed up as an eighteen-foot-tall robot. It was the first time he’d come face-to-face with a Sentinel. He was both impressed and intimidated. The Sentinel moved with such stealth that he didn’t even see it coming until it was staring down at him with menace.
“UNREGISTERED MUTANT. SURRENDER NOW.”
Doug jumped at the robotic voice, its warning ringing in his ears. He looked over at Megan and tilted his head in confusion. “Wait, I thought you registered?”
