Scott barks out a derisive laugh, even as he hands the food in to Creed's antigrav cell. Oddly, while the tray and spoon float, the servings of food remain firmly in their sconces.
The tray serves as its own center of gravity...we wouldn't put prisoners there unless we could feed them like that.
"Point taken. Your 'thanks for not trying to kill us all in our sleep' certificate's in the fax."
Scott stands by Kurt with a supportive hand on his friend's shoulder as he jerks a thumb back towards the video camera.
"I'm taping the lecture, for later review. For what it's worth, we've all got dark sides. Xavier trusts me more than anyone else in the school, except for Jean. So everything he knew, I know...including everything he could find on the histories of those who join the X-Men."
Scott ticks off his fingers.
"First off, I can't vouch for where you're from, but our Gambit didn't actually kill anyone in the Morlock Massacre. He was duped into believing he was leading a simple heist by Mr. Sinister, who paid him not in cash, but in his own genetic material, pilfered in the hope of creating a super-powered clone under Sinister's control. That makes him a thief, not a murderer...and according to the testimony of a little girl named Marrow, he tried to save the Morlocks when he found out what was going on...until you slashed him in the gut.
"Wolverine has had probably the most complex and sordid past of any of us. We don't pretend to know everything, and regardless of what you claim, I don't think you do either. What I do see, in both the Logans here, is men...not animals...with strong codes of personal honor, who have a firm sense of right and wrong, and try to do the right thing as often as they can. Whatever he used to be, he's not anymore...even I've come to respect him, if not like him, because he tries so hard to rise above the example he's been set."
Scott smirks as he ticks off the last name on the list.
"And Psylocke? I won't deny that she's always been ruthless...but like Logan, she's got an unimpeachable sense of personal honor. She joined the X-Men during the Massacre...saw the team at its lowest point, our most savagely beaten. And she wanted to help. They all want to help. The only time Betsy's ever been 'evil' is when she was brainwashed...and even then it didn't take much to snap her out of it.
"I'm not saying you're lying, just that you're only seeing half the story. A half-truth is more dangerous than an outright lie, because the proof is easier to swallow and the whole story easier to ignore."
The food having settled into the antigrav field, Scott chucks the beer can in as well, tossing a straw in with it like a miniature javelin.
"The beer's probably going to come out in a ball of liquid. You'll need that to get at it."
