Captain America could hear the tension in his voice, which made everything seem more suspicious. "We don't have time for this." He told Eva. Steve's forearm slammed into the cheap wooden door just between the doorknob and the deadbolt. The door frame splintered easily under the pressure of his direct strike and Steve wasted no time entering the apartment. He found Todd with his phone in his hand, presumably calling the police, but when Steve reached him, the other man simply dropped the phone onto his couch in a sign of surrender.
"I don't know what you guys want!" Todd said exasperated. "I did my duty - I told the cops what I saw." He ran his hand through his hair, and then folded his arms over his chest.
"Okay." Captain America said calmly and held his hand up to show Todd he wasn't going to do anything to hurt him... or break anymore of his stuff. "I just want to know what you said to them." However, before Steve could get anywhere with Todd's answer music had begun to fill the apartment. He looked back and saw that Lochlan and Sarah had in fact not stayed in the hallway.
"Take me to church..." Lochlan said over the chorus of the song. "Who hasn't heard this enough?" He jested, and then moved away from Todd's living room stereo. He walked closer to Todd, but far enough away that neither Eva or Steve could punch him. "Look at me, Todd." He told his friend/bartender, "See me." That last part was mostly for Sarah. He focused on the music - the Hozier that now bounced around the inside of Todd's skull. His mutation allowed Lochlan to not only disarm the man being questioned, but make him a literal open book. Lochlan had subconsciously started to sing along with the fellow Irishman, because his own voice seemed to help the process. Mandrake snapped his fingers and Todd's expression turned blank, he moved to the couch and sat. "There," Lochlan looked to Eva, then Steve. "He couldn't lie to you now if was to save his life."
Captain America wanted to scold the younger man, but he had to admit the sight of the bartender in his mutation-induced trance was an improvement. "Alright, Todd." Steve started, yes still locked on Mandrake. "Did you actually see the man you identified to the police at the club last night?"
"No." Todd answered in an eerie sort of monotone voice.
"Why did you tell the police that?" Steve's eyes were now focused on the man he was questioning.
"She told me to." Todd said.
"Who, who is she?" Steve took a stepped closer.
"I don't know." Todd answered.
"Why did she tell you to lie, why did you listen to her?" Captain America asked, his eyes focused on Todd's dark, tired set.
"I don't know... she looked at me and I..." Todd trailed off.
