They’d dated; Steve took inventory of what Eva had told him. So he had been right about what he'd seen in Warren's behavior at the mansion. That gave Steve a bit of an ego boast, truth be told, because that meant the early embers of what he'd felt about Eva couldn't have been that far off base. That, and the fact she liked men that helped people - well, he liked women that ignored gender roles and also fought for what they believed in. Maybe this was the beginning of something... But Steve had other things to worry about now, like the mice they'd caught in the hall.
"Whoa, whoa." Well, that escalated quickly. Lochlan's hands were up in a 'let's all slow this shit down' position, even though he'd rather have nursed the spot on his arm where Steve's vice-like grip had snatched him. Although, he probably wouldn't have done that anyway with Sarah there. He had to look tough, "Don't worry, Captain America's Castiel-like hand print on me doesn't hurt at all." He countered Eva's completely rational reaction with something that didn't really matter.
"Alright," Lochlan huffed out in tone that admitted he was about to give it all up. "I know this guy, I mean, from the bar - he's a good guy." Mandrake started, eyes on the floor - not completely ready to meet Eva's Electric Light Orchestra pair yet. So he looked to Steve's pearly set, that did in fact remind him of the blue field on the American flag - good on you Forge. "I don't think he'd lie..." Lochlan sighed again, this time harder and then his hand reached out to grab Network's in a sign of solidarity. And strength, because he was ready to face Astrape head on. "Yeah, I convinced her ta come. But I can't get the fact that all this started somewhere I asked Logan to be, during my show - and the only reason Sarah is involved in this is because I wanted to impress her." With his talent, and he thought he had a pretty good chance, until... "I just want to help make it right."
Steve's arms had folded over his chest at some point during Eva's 'teaching moment' with the younger pair. She was right, he agreed with every word that Professor Rojas had said, and he hoped his stern expression mirrored hers, just with less lightning (something Steve did take note of, mostly because it distracted him in all the right ways).
Captain America wasn't sure what part of Lochlan's story hit him, the feeling responsible and wanting to make it right or the fact that he was Irish and needed to eat a sandwich; but Steve's posture softened and he glanced toward Eva with a more forgiving expression on his face. "He could tell us what he knows about... Todd, at least." Steve offered, and then turned back to Lochlan. "Talk." He said, a bit forcefully though it was sure better than Mandrake would have gotten from Astrape.
"Fuck, yeah." Lochlan started, now convinced he never wanted an expectant Captain America staring directly at him again. "Like I said, he's a good guy... he's in a broadcasting program at the community college down the road. Wants ta work at ESPN someday, hell - he gives away dollar drinks to people he knows need a little help. I don't get this, I don't get liar off of him." Lochlan shook his head in disbelief.
"Maybe someone paid him off..." Steve interrupted, with a glance toward Eva.
"I don't know, but you can ask him yourself." Lochlan informed Captain America, and then waved Todd, who had stuck his head out of his door to see what was going on in the hallway. Cheap apartment, paper thin walls... Steve should not rent here.
Todd, upon noticing Lochlan, the chick Lochlan was with last night, an angry Latina, and Captain America decided to not enter the hallway. And instead locked his door.
"Damn it," Steve grunted and then flared his nostrils at Lochlan. "Stay," he pointed to him before Captain America and Astrape left Velma and Shaggy for Todd's now-locked door. Steve knocked on the door before he started to talk. "Please, we just have a few questions about last night."
"I already told the police everything I know, I don't have to talk to you." Todd said from somewhere inside his apartment.
