Destination Murder
CHARACTERS: Astrape, Wolverine, Grasp, Forge, Beast, Angel, Bishop, ?.
TOPIC: That's the sound of the police...
DATE & TIME: Tuesday, April 21st @ 12:35am.
LOCATION: Xavier's Institute, Headmaster's Office.
RATING: M.
They'd shown up unannounced, warrant in hand, as if having the element of surprise would assure their suspect's cooperation... The way the detective had addressed Eva about Logan, it seemed the policeman thought he could make the defenseless damsel feel like one of her field hands was a dangerous criminal, on the run. He'd been in his bed. She'd actually had to go and wake him. Now, Wolverine, a handful of country police and several of the staff were crowded into her office and the air was static. There was no blaming the tension (solely) on her this time, either. Logan was furious, and he'd said so (with such colorful adjectives).
The officers were serious about their suspicions, and with apparent due cause. Logan seemed to fit the description of a man who'd been spotted at the scene of a gruesome, terrible crime, as well as the profile of a mutant who was capable of committing said crime. This girl was torn to pieces - with gashes in threes. Despite all that... Eva knew better. When Logan said he'd been in all night, and had no idea about any dead girls or why the police were at the school, Astrape believed him.
Charles, too, believed Wolverine's word over that of the mutant-spooked police force. However, after a 'conference call' with Xavier, Logan had been urged to go with the officers willingly and wait until they could figure things out for themselves. 'There had to be a reasonable explanation, after all'. Zap had already mentally texted Warren, then erased the messages on both their phones. Xavier's needed their personal police force now... and a damned good lawyer. Thankfully, Charles had already contacted David Long. Now all there was left to do was get Logan to heed Xavier's suggestion... in the company of detectives. "Gentlemen," Eva began, evenly, "may I please speak to my staff privately for a few moments? If we're going to be without Mr. Logan, I'd like to make quick arrangements to alter our schedule accordingly."
There was a quiet moment of hesitation, then the lead detective nodded his consent. "Five minutes. We'll be in the foyer, Miss Rojas."
"Professor Rojas." She smiled, politely, but her eyes were filled with Rhia-worthy flames. "We'll be quick," she assured. "Gracias, detective."
The heavy wooden door shut almost silently, and Astrape put her hands to her face for a moment as she let the gravity and privacy settle around them all. She needed to be a leader... to enforce Charles' will. But all she could do was look into Logan's hazel eyes and try to keep her stomach from performing acrobatics. She wet her lips, "We'll get Lochlan - and Sarah, we'll have them speak with David tomorrow morning. Luke and Warren are headed out here now. Everything's going to blow over," she said, mostly trying to convince herself. Her brown eyes broke from Wolverine and she looked instead to Forge. Suddenly, she felt even less productive, diminished to a teenager who was begging her mentor with her eyes to convince her savior to willingly go to jail. Eva swallowed, then looked back to Logan.
"...n't go. Don't go. Don't go with them. This isn't right. This isn't okay. What the hell happened at that club? God..."
Kiernan zoned in, then right back out on Eva's thoughts, and pursed his lips before adding his two cents. "She's right. We'll get this sorted out, Logan. Ya know we have yer back." His arms were crossed at his wide chest, hopefully a posture that read 'united front'.
