Nathaniel listened while Eva continued with their polite and procedural verbal sparring. The hours of windshield time had sufficiently numbed his brain, but normally he despised idle conversation anyway. Typically, it was boring and time-consuming, however with Mayor Silvercloud that wasn't the reason his eyes had glossed over. Considering his discovery and her... attitude, Nathaniel's boredom was entirely attributed to the knowledge that he and Evangeline would soon be past this minor conversation.
And then, she piqued his interest. Two surprises in one meeting. "Oh. Wow," Nate said with the first real smile of his visit. "You've, you've caught me unawares. Beginner's luck, I assure you," he said and approached the desk with a shred of glee in his eyes. "I normally carry a set, but I neglected them in the quick change," he added, though he would have admitted it was a poor excuse. Nathaniel carefully selected the shiny twenty-sided-die, felt the weight, and showed his approval with a roll. The purple math-rock tumbled over the mayor's desk and stopped on a gold nine. "Hmm," the dark-haired man pondered his possibilities - luckily, she was a gracious Dungeon Master. He rolled again and was only slightly deflated when a three emerged. "That's unfortunate," he said, though he was defeated. "I have a plus six to history, will a fifteen earn me that private tour? I'll send you my character sheet in pdf form if you'd like," he smirked again and carefully replaced Eva's die.
