July 2018
Heat wave was an understatement. They students of Xavier's (and the many, many Asgardian refugees) had taken to camping it up around Breakstone Lake, whether out of necessity or not. Obviously that was the best answer, Eva thought with a smirk as she wound through the crowd to find where Thor was talking to to a group of older Asgarians - all mostly in bathing suits or less. "Can I borrow the God of Thunder for a few minutes, please?" she asked respectfully and with a smile, depsite the fact that she was nervous as one of Rogue's country-isms. Cat and rocking chairs, you know. "Something important has come up..." she said, hoping to light a bit of a fire under Thor's perfectly-toned tush. She'd been greeted warmly by the small group of off-worlders, which had actually made what she was about to tell Thor a tiny bit easier. Kind of. A little bit. |
"And that's when you said: you forgot about my other sword!" Thor bellowed in unison with many of the other elder Asgardians, the group had been recounting some of others best triumphs. Tales Thor had been raised on. The king's smile only intensified when he noticed Eva approaching from the side. "My friends," he began and stood from his seat. "Excuse me, but our savior has requested my presence." "She can take me instead!" One of the onlookers shouted and Thor pointed toward the older man with his eyebrows arched. "Watch it, I know your wife," he warned with a grin, then followed Eva. "My lady," he greeted her more properly, then kissed her sweat-beaded forehead - which earned a small applause from the gallery. "They love you," he stared. "We have that in common." |
Zap had grinned and waved after being noticed, but limited her motions in the heat. Don't beat around the bush: "I'm glad to hear it..." in, out, in, out: "Thor, we're going to have a baby. I don't mean eventually..." Her eyes flicked downward and she looked back up into the giant blond man's bearded face. "First... try," Zap said, indicating that it had probably been the forest rendezvous they'd had after Veeho - the first time they'd had sex at all. "You're not just the Allfather," she joked, nervously. Her gut told her Thor was going to be happy, but she still wasn't sure it was the best time for something like this to have happened. Dr. Ian Malcom: Life... finds a way. "We're joining our peoples more deeply than we thought we could." Heh. A mutant Midgardian baby with a godly Asgardian father. Dr. Ian Malcolm: Uh, well, there it is. |
"Excuse me," Thor began, and his eyes snapped shut to better focus on his ears. "Did you say we're having a baby?" She had, he didn't need to listen. Without hesitation, Thor gently (but quickly) scooped Eva up off her feet and made a noise that resembled a happy yell and a victorious battle cry. "Sorry," he quickly acknowledged the fact that he'd probably acted too rapidly, but held her close to him regardless. "But you never have to walk again," he made promises he couldn't keep, then craned his neck to kiss Eva's wonderful lips. "I love you, I love our baby," he told her, mouth still pressed into Eva's. "I want to tell them," he said of the Asgardians gathered around the lake for relief. "I shouldn't tell them," his inner monologue became his outer one due to sheer excitement. "I love you," he repeated. "This is wonderful," he started again. "This is wonderful?" he asked after he'd realized he hadn't yet gaged Eva's opinion. "You're happy? With me? I'm worthy?" He strung the series of questions together and waited breathlessly for her response. |
Oope! There was triumpant spinning. Slap her ass and call her a romcom cliche. She supposed, though, that she was dating the cover of a romance novel, so... no surprise. She shook her head 'no' to dismiss his apology, then gave Thor a squeeze around the neck at the first chance she had. "I do too," she said in response to his 'I love you, I love our baby', eyes closing with gladness and to keep out the noon sun. Zap nodded and set a current of fondness off of her and over Thor's skin. Yes. It was wonderful. She smiled for a few solid happy moments before she released his bare neck and motioned for him to turn around back toward the water. "If I'm worthy, you're worthy. Do you want to tell them?" She pressed her forehead to his and gave his sun-pink nose gentle kiss. |
"I do," Thor shared about his need to broadcast their good news, but not before he lowered his head and enjoyed a snuzzle with his love. "Two, soon to be three," he mused quietly and while his legs and arms remained sturdy, his head and face melted into Eva's embrace. "I could not be any happier," he added and even sniffled some alleged tears from his face. Finally, when composed, Thor turned and addressed his people. "Friends, we bring wonderful news," after he spoke several of the Asgardian's quieted and turned toward them. "You will soon have a new prince or princess to cherish along with us," Thor informed them and held back the emotion in his throat. Happy gasps turned to excited murmurs and quickly the news spread like wild fire through the camp. Thor gleefully watched it like one of Mateo's domino masterpieces. "Oope," the Allfather said quietly to Eva. "It's too warm for this," he added when women started to stream toward the pair. "They want to offer you blessings," he explained then took a few steps backwards. "Given the current climate," he address the people again, "perhaps we postpone the blessings until evening," he suggested and the women appeared to agree. "They mean well," he explained to Eva then carefully carried her toward the mansion and the air conditioner. "I'll find you a cool place to lounge," Thor told her with a smile. "I want to tell everyone," he said while he carried her. "I want everyone in the world to know how much I love you." |
The bag was empty and that cat had jumped into the lake. Zap watched while it did a lap, still in Thor's arms. Why? Because he was a big, happy dad-to-be and obviously thought his grasp was the proper place for her. Poise, she thought. Grace and poise. He was silly and happy and forward, and as some of the Asgardians (and a few X-Men) came toward them, she readied herself to match Thor's energy, but a less manic version. Oh, sweet Jesus, thank Odin. "Thank you!" she called to them. "I can't wait to speak with all of you and I hope to gain wisdom from your words," this part was said less as a shout and more focused on the ones closest to them. Okay, the entire lakeside population down, the school and beyond to go. Of course, one or two people had already been told... but that'd been more for her benefit. "You can put me down," she laughed as Thor began to retreat. He spoke to her, alone again, and she moved to help herself down out of his grasp. "I walked all the way here, y'know," the mystic pointed out to her... baby daddy. "I'm happy that you're happy. And don't worry, this will definitely be world-wide news," she said, realizing too long after the information had been set free into the ether. |
The Allfather carefully placed Eva onto the ground, but held her hand while they walked back toward the mansion. "Good," he said of the news traveling. "And if anyone doesn't hear it I'll find them and personally tell them," he jested toward her. "You will be a radiant mother," Thor complimented her, still quite over the moon with happiness. "You and our child shall want for nothing," he added. As thrilled as Thor was, he realized his plans would need to be moved up a bit. Eva was to be his wife, of this he had no doubt, now more than ever. Queen, wife, mother of his child, goddess... oh goddess. "And of course, I shall officially make you the goddess I already know you to be," he informed her, then stopped long enough to kneel before her and kiss her hand. "We have begun a journey that will last longer than the stars and I couldn't imagine anyone better to share it with." |
