"My ability to temper myself... is a recently learned skill," she confirmed, having been quite the hellion of justice in her earlier days. But for now, she was vulnerable, in a way that could not be hidden or denied. Her son could be taken to a safe place. Her unborn child had to remain with her, and she was a crucial part of the united front mutants and Asgardians needed to present. They had all cohabited wonderfully - and were all free to come and go, Asgardians and Midgardians alike. They'd all built a "safe" place for themselves - apart from the current climate of hatred that had engulfed the country below.
"They'll stand down once we put some public heat on the situation and ensure we've painted ourselves in the innocent light we actually live in." Thor himself had more than made up for the crimes of his brother and for the accidents he'd caused himself. He had never meant any of humanity harm. He and his father had done their duty in protecting Midgard amongst the other eight realms. Had it not been for the betrayal from within their own family, there would have never been such dire occurrences.
"We need to release a statement concerning your brother." She sighed and her arms tightened around Thor so that their baby was safely squeezed between its parents' embrace. "He hasn't been here in months, and he doesn't represent Vernal Asgard in any official manner - those facts need to be out there. And we can let them come inspect whatever they want to inspect," with multiple escorts, of course. "They're not going to find anything incriminating or threatening here." But that might not be the case for much longer if the US government pressed them much harder.
Eva leaned back and looked into Thor's eyes. "I'm going to marry you. I'll be the thing you want me to be. I want it now, too. And I want you," her eyes were a bit watery, mostly with love, but also with anger and a dash of pride in what they'd become and what their friends and family and peoples had built together. She was so grateful for all of her X-Men family, and she knew she had to represent them now and repay their efforts. They needed to be protected and rally together to keep their creation thriving.
Her children deserved their parents to honor their birthrights - to be the royal family Thor deserved to have at his side. After fifteen-hundred years of battle and selflessness (with voids being filled, admittedly, by drink and dalliance), it was time for him to become the king. And he would be addressed as such, she thought with annoyance. 'Thor, can I call you that?' still rang in her ears and she touched either side of his face and held him there, dark eyes praying her touch would convey she saw him as a worthy successor to his father - and then some.
