"Pleasure making your acquaintance." Senator Clennon told the royals when they quickly departed the courtyard. "No need for the escort, we were just leaving." The smile on his lips was audible in his words, even when he made eye-contact with his aids. "I like her. Anybody else, just me?" Myles admitted to his companions, who seemed more concerned about the summit than he, himself was. "Come on." He gestured for them to follow his lead, back the way they'd come. "My mama taught me well enough to recognize when I'm not welcome."
"Sir? Shouldn't we..." The anxious woman spoke finally and quickly joined lock-set with the Senator. "Continue the negotiations?"
"Nothing to negotiate." Myles offered curtly. "White House doesn't want to talk to King Thor or the Asgardians." He added, his voice more hushed than before. "They'll get all chummy with North Korea and that madman but not..." Myles trailed off and decided not to finish his sentence at this moment. "Our official position is that these Asgardians are refugees and should be vetted in the same way that anyone who comes to this country for asylum. Is that too much to ask, considering we know they are hiding several fugitives aboard this flying rock. And God knows what kind of possibly harmful technology. Hell, I know for a fact that Loki was spotted here. The same Loki who was responsible for the largest terrorist attack on American soil..." Clennon composed himself before he continued. "Short version. Those carriers stay until either we get to search this place, or it floats away." Myles added and honestly hoped for the latter. Especially if this ass-backward administration decided to release its official opinion on their 'mutant problem', next week like they threatened. "Let's just get out of dodge, while the gettin' is good."
Eva spoke, Thor followed. She'd eloquently summed up the complex thoughts and emotions the Asgardian also felt deeply within himself. Although, had Thor been left to his own devices he'd have expressed them much more brutally. But perhaps this latest 'diplomat' would have understood something a bit more brutish.
Once they'd entered their sanctum inside the palace and beyond the courtyard, Thor released Eva's hand only so that he could throw his own up the air. "This is their idea of diplomacy?" He vented, hands now square on his hips and fully facing Eva. "Warships, weapons pointed at our people?" The king gritted his teeth and ran a hand over his bearded chin. "If not for the hallowed ground of Xavier's beyond, I'd have..." Thor started, while the mental picture of he and Storm-breaker vanquishing those carriers from the sky flashed through his mind.
After a moment of reflection, Thor once again closed the gap between him and his pregnant love. "I owe you so much already, Eva." His beard mingled with the hairs on the top of her head while he spoke. "Your ability to temper yourself... you indeed did a great thing for Asgard and Midgard today." He complemented, though his stare was still distant. "I fear for the possibilities of Vernal Asgard remaining here, however." He added, the close contact with Zap a salve on his dimmed aura and outlook for the future.
