Forge chuckled, lightly and mostly to himself when his daughter's thoughts twisted around to her breakfast pastry. "Then he knows how to get your goat." The Cheyenne man pointed out, eyes still fixed on the still water out from the porch.
"Fuck if I know..." the inventor said rather conveniently when he went on to the business of Eva's inquiry about Mikhail. "But I think you understand his motives," Jon countered, his gaze finally connecting with his daughter's. "He was a mutant snatched up by his government, tested on, forced to do things he didn't want to do. Family tragedy, only his two siblings left... no country to return to." He wondered if any of this sounded familiar to Zap yet. "Same old song." Forge lamented the plight of both his peoples and how similar so many of their stories sounded.
"His motives revolve around Pete and Illyana," he explained needlessly, Jon in complete understanding with Mikhail's desire to make the world a better place for the younger generation. "God knows they've both already seen their lion's share of bullshit." Piotr, a heavy for a group of mobsters, and Illyana... "If I were him..." Forge started, though cocked any eyebrow so Eva understood that was a rather large leap. "I'd want to make sure their lives remained as normal as possible." Forge waited a few beats, "but he's also bat-shit crazy." So what the fuck did he know?
"I want you to be careful with him," Jon's dad tone emerged without warning. "He's not stable. Charles was keen on letting him in because he believed the Rasputins wanted a chance at happiness, but I know he's never completely trusted him. And just because I think I understand his motives doesn't mean they can't change, or god forbid..." something happened to either of his siblings. "Just think of him as that old crappy fireplace we had in our cabin. Great to watch when the snow was failing, but as soon as you took your eyes off of it... it would try and burn the house down."
