Now that she'd delivered, Eva's mutation had quickly surged back to full force, whereas while pregnant, her energy had been drained and focused on supporting the growth of the babies. So... she was working more at night again. Logan, however, seemed to be down for the count. She'd smiled at him before leaving their bed, where he lay face down, sound asleep, and making the occasional grunting noise. She patted his partially-exposed backside then slipped out of the room to go to her office/workshop area. She had ideas. Stress-relieving, non-work-related ideas. Now that they'd been put to practice, the baby carriers they were using were obviously in need of improvement. Zap's design thoughts revolved around tweaking the support, adding space for all three babies safely, and possibly implementing Kevlar, because #yesallwomen. On her way, she stopped into the nursery to grab one of the baby slings, but upon opening the partially-cracked door, she was filled with a sense of dread.
The normally static-ridden electrokine felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up and a chill run down her back. The babies were asleep, still, but something felt off. She slowly scanned the room multiple times, and upon the fifth or so glance, her eyes stopped dead on the window where a bulky silhouette could be seen. She mentally texted Logan and her dad and even Jimmy, who had been bunkering down in the 'Snuggly Duckling' above their garage at Logan's request the past week. Zap moved further into the room to put herself between the window and her children but as she neared, after a blink, the figure had disappeared. No... no, it had been there. There was someone outside. Someone tall. But she no longer had eyes on it. But that didn't matter. It was still there. She could sense it. It was what Troy called her 'shark sense'. When a person or animal were nearby, Eva could feel them with electricity. But after a moment, that feeling faded as well. The one thing she couldn't shake and that hadn't disappeared, however, was the sensation of being watched...
"Nope," she said aloud. She wasn't doing this victim shit. Not when her babies were so close. Not ever. It was at that moment, upon deciding to be proactive - to be offensive in her motherhood, that she felt a terrible tingling feeling in her head like her brain had fallen asleep and was trying to regain feeling. She gasped and staggered back a few steps, using the semi-circle of cribs to brace herself, when a bright, violent indigo light came from her upper body and shot out through the window, making only the curtains whosh, but leaving the glass intact. Outside, she could see him now. She could see the man who'd been lurking, but not with her own eyes. The wolf... from her dreams. It had tackled the man and had its astral jaws around his neck. She felt the sensation of being bucked off, though, and then she saw the man running again. In the nursery, where she was standing, her eyes had glazed over with a white-indigo light and Eva gripped to the crib behind her.
Outside, though, she was running this piece of shit down. However he'd cloaked himself from her sight and electrical senses, he was apparently no match for a mama wolf...
