The air was different - a good sign. It smelled mechanical and clean and the temperature was less than frigid. Maria grasped her grandson's waist firmly before slowly easing him to the floor so that he could stand. After her came Cassidy, and she kept her gun raised for multiple reasons. They had absolutely no idea what they were walking into, other than a semi-identical subterranean hangar. She looked down over Faolan's face and tried to check for any injuries, but the fear in his big blue eyes caused the woman to take a knee and pull him close again. She looked over his dusty little shoulder to Jack Cassidy, aka Nomad, and gestured around. "How does this work? Do you have any idea where we are?" Or when? Was it always the same time? She sighed, knowing for certain she'd made the right choice, but feeling as if the future was daunting beyond compare. Well, that wasn't true. Surviving in their true home was daunting beyond compare. This was just... the unknown. Maria Rojas had no intention of letting the Nomad wander, though. She was going to stick close by his side in case things went sideways. And so was Minor. Her projected grizzly bear paced suddenly in the background of the hangar, not too close, but making sure there were no quick entrances or exists without Urksa's knowledge.
"Abuela?"
"Yes, Fway, what is it baby? You're okay."
"Where are we? Where'd everyone go?"
"Shhh, little man. I can't answer that right this second. We have to be quiet right now though," she whispered. "We're in a new place. Mama and Dad sent you with me to keep you safe. So that's what I'm going to do."
His parents were dead. He heard them say it on the radios before Cassidy opened the... portal. Fway blinked, puffed up his chest, and gave his grandmother a firm nod, dreads swinging into his face in trademark style.
"Okay baby. We're going to head out of the hangar in a minute. I want you to see if you can find anything right outside these doors and let Abuela know. Si?"
Another nod. A cosmic wolf launched out of the young man and rushed through the large hangar doors and into a long hallway that led to multiple other rooms and offices. The wolf paused when he spied an older man with a big gun and Faolan gasped as the wolf stared the man down. "One with a gun..." he murmured, distractedly.
"Just one?" Fine. They were getting out of here - now. "Cas, go hit the lever for the doors. Keep Faolan close. I'm going to cover us," she raised her weapon again and moved to the doors, her bear close behind and corporeal to help block any gunfire she might encounter. "Okay." She whispered.
